Isaac Backus was a man who followed Jonathan Edwards in his fierce pursuit of an “evangelical calvinism” in his ministry. This set of treatises on sovereign grace and God’s decree is a wonderful display of such calvinism, displaying the biblical vitality of the great clarion call of the reformation  – “sola gratia”!
